About Russell Holman 

I was a  pretty average club runner, who competed for Woodford Green, Boxhill Racers and Team Solent (a few years ago now)  Despite my lack of talent,  I always dared to dream big, this led me to research and question the usual training methods,  after all I had been a scientist at I.C.I, (yeah the white lab coat kind of mad scientist)

After years of reading and self coaching,  I traveled to Johannesburg to train, during my time there,  I started to coach a South African athlete, this athlete was Hezekiel Sepeng, I worked with Hezekiel from October 1995 until the summer of 1999, during which time he reduced his pb for 800m from 1.45.32 down to 1.42.69 and gained silver medals at the 1996 Olympics, 1998 commonwealth games and 1999 world championships.

1999 was the year that I sold out to the lure of the Premier League,  and started working as fitness coach at West Ham United. I spent 10 years in professional football including spells at Gillingham and Crystal Palace,  as well as working 1-2-1 with players such as Michael Owen, Dean Ashton, Craig Bellamy and David James. I still work with professional players during the off season, most recently Steve Cook of AFC Bournemouth and Swansea City's  Jonjo Shelvey. I have also worked with various other sportsmen and women including triathletes, rugby players, swimmers and mixed martial artists.  

Over the years I have had articles published in newspapers and magazines, been featured on BBC breakfast and have been interviewed on various talkSPORT radio shows (I was also in the reality TV show,  Katie & Peter,  but we won't mention that!). In 2009 I started Fit4 personal training and worked with hundreds of people helping them to 'train like an athlete' to achieve their goals, whether that was to lose weight, improve health, gain strength and size or to train for a specific event
